Reviews
Great location.
Traditional hotel, but in need of updating.
Sunbeds around pools uncomfortable, need pads or replaced.
Deck chairs on beach need replacing with sunbeds, again with pads.
Breakfast - more variation required, but overall ok.
Dinner - superb no complaints
ADHERE TO THEIR POLICY OF LEAVING TOWELS ON BEDS BY GUESTS, SEEN DOING THIS THE NIGHT BEFORE AND BEFORE 7AM. THEN NOT APPEARING FOR HOURS.
This was our first time in Sardinia and it did not disappoint! We loved our hotel. The staff was exceptional and it was very neat and clean. We enjoyed swimming in the private little cove and the beach on site. We have a pool at home so we didn't gravitate to the hotel pools but they were magnificent and meticulously maintained. We enjoyed cocktails on the outdoor terrace bar. And the sunset which can be seen from the terrace or sea-facing balconies? Astounding! Small fixable suggestions: better pillows and good cappuccino for breakfast (as opposed to machine). Highly recommended!!
Had a great stay at this hotel. All the staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. The only downside was breakfast was very lacking. No freshly prepared egg options like fried or omelettes. Also the food area needs reorganising, it’s too cramped and crowded. Dinner time however was exceptional. Sort out the breakfast experience and it becomes 5 star.
Perfect location, lovely garden, nice, spacious rooms and a fantastic view of the gulf witch is exclusively for the guests of the hotel accessible. The personal was always friendly and could helped also with extra wishes (adapter for foreign devices) an thely speak several languages, so the communication wasn't a problem, even if we speak very little italian. The room was cleaned daily, the parking was always possible. We were very satisfied with our stay and we're planning to visit again.
The view from our room was lovely.
The hotel certainly wasn’t a 4 star hotel - very much a three star.
Decor was shabby - rugs and cushions etc …
I will start with the best and go through to the bad things.
To start with, the personnel and the service are really good, very nice and very polite. I don't think anyone can complain about it at this hotel. It was very easy to book a room, communication since the check in was very easy and prompt and the check in process was all fine without any delays.
Rooms are authentic, nice air conditioning and the mini bar was able to cool down what we brought. The rest are average and standard. Cleaning of the rooms are very nice as well.
Having your own beach is a very nice advantage. Weather was not very nice during our stay so it was not very busy with sun beds but I am not sure if that would be that much easy if it was better. I noticed that many customers are "reserving" sun beds and not even using them during the whole day. This might needed to be solved by the management.
Beach is fantastic, very nice to walk and swim. I really liked it. Hotel has two (maybe more) car parks and we were always able to find a place to park the car everyday. Nice to have!
Prices at the bars are fair and not expensive than a restaurant.
Here comes the bad parts though. Isolation in the room are horrible. I mean really horrible. Literally I can hear what people are speaking (or doing!) in the neighbouring rooms. I can even know when they receive a notification. For instance one of my neighbours was using an Android phone. I know because I hear the notification sound and I know that tone :) So for anyone who is sensitive to noise, you might want to reconsider.
For sun beds, they were available on the beach but they are not very comfortable to be honest. You can completely lie down for instance to get tanned on your back because sun beds are sun "chairs".
We had only bed and breakfast but I have to say that that was a disappointing breakfast for an Italian place. There was no any "fresh/hot" food such as a point that you can get omlette, pancakes etc. These were ready made and served there and most of the times they are cold already. Even the toaster had a broken handle and it takes a few breakfasts to figure out how it actually works. Long story short, breakfast is not good, below an average hotel. I was expecting better food.
Lastly (I am pretty sure this is written in somewhere with small letters but) check out time 10:00 AM is also very very disappointing. I literally had some shampoo on my head when we got a call from reception reminding us that and we had to pack our stuff at the car park. We were able to manage it but was not very pleasant with wet hair at the windy conditions.
So long story short, I would not stay here again for the same price that I paid. I would only consider staying here again if I pay around 100-120 euros per night, not more. I am sorry but that is the fair price that this stay deserves.
Horrible custom service when checking into hotel. We had flown all the way from Australia and were greeted extremely rudely by Giada, & Stefanie. Everything was too much trouble. After checking in Simone showed us to our room, but made a big fuss when asking for help with our bags.
On a positive note location is beautiful, especially the little beach’s that surround the hotel.
Antoinetta at the bar was AMAZING! she made us feel so welcomed.
Rooms are a little outdated but super clean.
Overall was a nice hotel just let down by customer service at reception.
Thank you so much Smeraldo Beach Grand Hotel team for our wonderful stay. Special thanks to the team of cleaning ladies for keeping our room spotless. Restaurant dinner team, thank you for the culinary divine experience. Also we would like to express our gratitude to Diego (restaurant manager) for his impeccable professionalism and Marino (restaurant staff) for his skills and positive attitude. Diego and Marino, you guys made our dinner time full of warm memories.
